Spring Time

So finally something "crafty". I made this card for my Mother-in-law. I was in a Spring mood and like the way it turned out, it's very simple but that's how most my stuff is. The M is because her name is Marilee not because I'm conceded.

This picture didn't turn out well with the brown walls and coloring and focus isn't right but for Easter we had the family over and made a big Lamb dinner. It was delicious! My sister Melanie and I made name place settings and the center piece using my Cricut and the Storybook cartridge. We had a lot of fun chatting while we made them. Really, they were super cute in person. Everyone ate, then the festivities began. Mel and I planned games for the adults after the kids were done- egg toss, egg on spoon relay race and of course, some good ol' knife and ax throwing.

The Egg Toss. Melanie and Ryan won.
Melanie actually stuck one!

Logan, Elizabeth and Jimi
Now this one is pretty disgusting-the kids were sup post to pick up all the dog poo before the egg hunt. They forgot this one-right in the MIDDLE of the yard. So Tim put an egg on it so they could see what they missed (they did not get that egg).

And for some sadness. Jimi had two Bearded Dragons. One died a couple months ago and then poor Freddy (her favorite of the two) passed away. She made this headstone and buried him in the back yard. He lies in peace.

So Many Things

Wow, life has been very interesting sine my last blog:
I found out my Grandpa was dying so there I went on an impromptu trip with my family to Michigan. I think on that trip I experienced every emotion- Happy to see my Grandpa one last time, Hurt at what he wasn't, Sad that died, Glad I was with him when he passed, Angry at the lack of interest by other family members, Joyous to go down "memory lane" and Filled with Love for the family God blessed me with. There were many more emotions but I can't pinpoint how to describe them- It was a great trip even with all of that. I was really glad I got to be there.

Hit the ground running for work- had a project to complete by a deadline.
When I got back we moved that next weekend which, as you know, is a task in it's self.
And there were some fun things. We took the kids to the Renaissance Fair and Logan and Elizabeth need glasses. Elizabeth got her ears pierced (she wanted them done but was furious at everyone because "IT HURT") and we had a great time at church's 50's party.
Here are a few highlights

Beach Page

A couple years ago I got this layout from Archiver's but have finally got to my beach pictures. I changed it a bit to make it "my own". I really like how it turned out. By the way, if you noticed that the kids look younger it's because I'm working on my 2006 album-that's how far behind I am. With that said, if you live in the area and want to get together to scrapbook, let me know, I would love to get caught up!

My New Goodies

Last week I won a gift certificate from bittenbythebug2.blogspot.com. I got to pick out anything I wanted at http://www.apeekintoyesterday. This is what I got, I can't wait to get started using everything.

What a week!

Wow, this has been an incredibly busy week! My original plan when I started this blog was every week post a new thing I made or worked on. This is only week two and there's nothing to show for this week. I am reading "The Excellent Wife" by Martha Peace for our women's study. I'm on the Love chapter and for the most part- I'm reading it to myself say yeah, yeah, I know. Totally the wrong attitude but I get to a part about "Love is patient" and although I know it- God convicted me. I'm not patient. I want the end result NOW and get frustrated at the steps to get there. This last year I felt like we've taken a giant step back and just want everything back the way it was.
God spoke to my heart saying by Patient, there are reasons for why things in my life seem to change so dramatically.
I realized that even though I might act like every things fine and I'm being patient; what I really need is to be patient in my mind and not get aggravated when I feel that we're in a standstill. Because there IS a purpose for it.
So although I didn't get to do anything creative this week- I got closer to God and that is more important.

New Reading

So I went to Barnes and Noble with my husband and decided to "read a classic". I looked and looked and ended up with Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. Wow, this book requires a lot more concentration than what I normally give to my books. I haven't read a book like this since High School, so many Mr. Mrs. Miss. and sometimes just their first names (I get confused)also many words we no longer use in everyday language. Despite all this I find myself really enjoying it. It's nice to read in another time it makes me feel like I'm exercising my brain.
I was inspired by the book and was going to a party with a purse theme so I decided to make this purse. It turned out better than I had expected so I quickly thew together a "tissue cozy" to go inside of it- that was inspired by the kids' colds.
